mzd first appeared in pop'n music 2, 1998 or something, not too long after the release of the initial version of the game. probably. i'm just going to write up whatever paragraph and info from the top of my head. just to simulate what is going to be on this page. web building, am i right? fellow poppers???
mzd was based on the initial character designer of pop'n music, mzd mommy, who also may have been credited as "mukai". hence being denoted the "god of pop'n" and a "pop'n master", along with kero, inuchiyo, p-cat, etc. they were also character designers that worked with mzd mommy and would continue to take up the responsibility once he seemingly left after the first pop'n music. it's worth noting he is still credited in pop'n music 2 under "special thanks". artbooks prove that he worked with kero (known as shio) on some character drafts, including the ones for MZD, which effectively make this a self-insert. lol.

since then, his whereabouts have been unknown. previous to pop'n, mzd mommy was credited as a designer on this one niche konmai fighting game, along with other staffers that ALSO used the "mzd" name. they are "mzd nickboss", "mzd firefly", "etc". together, they formed the "mzd club", but only in this instance. it's unknown where the team moved on after this game, aside from mzd mommy who went on to pop'n, and mzd firefly (who would drop the mzd name and go by "f-fly") who went on creating visuals for beatmania (and subsequently, iidx).

despite mzd mommy's leave, it would be apparent that his work would continue to inspire the other staff designers on pop'n, as his character became greatly used, right after the series' mascots, miminyami. mzd is made to be not only the god of pop'n world, but also plays around as a DJ, providing music and most notably, creating remixes of other original songs in the series. in his appearances alone, it's evident how his godly powers come into play, wherein pop'n music 10, his power to create and grant wishes is shown.
yadda yadda. add more later. lol.
